SIDS is the acronym of «Small Island Developing States»
The United Nations has compiled a list of 52 small island countries that are located mainly in the Caribbean, the Pacific, the Indian Ocean and some located in the China Sea, the Gulf of Guinea and Cape Verde.
These countries suffer from various problems due to their size, their isolation, their scarce natural resources, and their fragility due to climate change and rising sea levels. Tourism is a source of income for most of the islands, which has a strong impact on nature and must be developed in a sustainable way.
